This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Guide and mentor software development teams in the design, development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of applications, APIs, and backend services that support essential business operations.
• Deliver hands-on technical leadership, coaching, and guidance to engineers creating high-performance, scalable, and secure services.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards, coding best practices, and architectural patterns, including modular design, concurrency, error handling, testing, and documentation.
• Promote the adoption of clean code principles, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and observability throughout systems.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Application Architects, Business Analysts, Security, and QA teams to plan, design, construct, test, and deploy applications and microservices.
• Supervise cross-project resource planning and capacity management for engineering teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Assist in crafting user stories, technical estimates, sprint plans, and delivery roadmaps for development initiatives.
• Engage in and lead peer reviews of solution architecture, code, and integration designs to ensure quality, maintainability, and scalability.
• Proactively diagnose and resolve complex system, performance, and reliability issues within platforms.
• Ensure that solutions adhere to secure coding standards, regulatory requirements, and internal SDLC practices, while being delivered on time and within budget.
• Provide support for production environments as necessary, including after-hours assistance for releases, system testing, upgrades, and incident resolution related to services.
• Assess and recommend enhancements to development tooling, frameworks, deployment pipelines, and SDLC processes that support engineering productivity.
• Foster continuous learning by advocating for training, certifications, and skill development in Golang, cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, and DevOps practices.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and nurture high-performing engineers and technical leads.
• Oversee employee performance, career development, coaching, and corrective measures in accordance with company standards.
• Build strong partnerships with technology vendors, IT Security, PMO, Legal, and Infrastructure teams to support enterprise solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
• 6 years of experience in Software Development with progressively increased responsibilities required.
• 3 years of management experience in a technical field required.
• Experience in the financial industry is preferred.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go/Golang) is preferred.
• Familiarity with Redis, Docker, and React is a plus.
• Capability to lead in an environment comprising both onshore and offshore resources.
• Experience in developing within the Azure environment.
• Proficient in relational database design and SQL Server and/or Postgres development.
• Familiarity with source control management systems and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy is required.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Proficient in utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite.
