Software Development Manager – AI Solutions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Guide the team and technology in developing LawDepot’s next generation of AI-driven experiences.

• Oversee technical team members, direct development methodologies, collaborate on product strategies and roadmaps, and set standards necessary for delivering secure, scalable, reliable, and valuable AI solutions.

• Provide technical direction for the architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing enhancement of secure, scalable, and reliable AI-powered software solutions.

• Manage Software Developers, Data Scientists, and other technical contributors to foster a high-performing team and promote technical excellence.

• Drive the delivery of AI-enabled products and features for our customers, enhancing the legal solutions experience for millions of users worldwide.

• Champion and facilitate AI adoption across LawDepot, assisting internal teams in enhancing AI literacy and utilizing AI tools productively, securely, and responsibly.

• Establish and uphold best practices for AI-Native development, including code authoring, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, AI evaluation frameworks, deployment gates, production readiness, security, and management of technical debt.

• Conduct research, assess, and recommend key platform, tooling, model integration, and technology decisions that align with business objectives and long-term company strategy.

• Own the AI roadmap and prioritize initiatives to ensure alignment with business goals, customer needs, technical feasibility, and organizational impact.

• Manage project schedules, scope, work estimates, dependencies, risks, resources, and delivery expectations for AI product initiatives and related software development efforts to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.

• Set team objectives, establish performance expectations, leverage metrics and data analytics, and implement performance management to promote accountability and effective execution.

• Mentor and develop team members through coaching, regular feedback, code reviews, knowledge sharing, performance management, career development support, and recruitment as the team evolves.

• Collaborate with Product Owners and cross-functional business stakeholders to define business requirements, align technical work with business objectives, and translate customer and internal needs into actionable delivery plans.

• Promote responsible AI governance by considering privacy, security, quality, risk, and compliance requirements.


⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Computing Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in software development, including at least 2 years in a leadership role managing personnel, projects, processes, or technical delivery.

• Proven experience in delivering AI-enabled products, features, platforms, or technology projects with an emphasis on quality, scalability, reliability, and timely delivery.

• Solid understanding of AI concepts (e.g., AI-native SDLC practices, Natural Language Processing, Model Context Protocol, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, human-in-the-loop review processes, agentic workflows, prompt engineering and optimization, integration with APIs, databases, and internal systems).

• Familiarity with major AI platforms and tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude), with the capability to evaluate their suitability for development workflows, product features, and business requirements.

• Strong technical leadership capabilities, including guiding architecture, system design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing enhancement of secure and scalable software solutions.

• Ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams.

• Excellent communication skills, able to effectively engage with team members, stakeholders, and senior leadership to align technical work with company objectives.

• Skills in project and delivery management, including ownership of roadmaps, prioritization of initiatives, management of scope, schedules, estimates, dependencies, risks, resources, and delivery expectations.

• Ability to evaluate and select platforms, tools, and technologies that align with business goals, budgets, customer needs, and technical feasibility.

• Strong business acumen and analytical judgment, capable of using metrics, performance data, and customer insights to inform decisions and drive accountability.
