Software Development Manager, AI Builder Tools

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee a team of platform engineers, fostering delivery, quality, and innovation on our agentic SDLC platform.

• Collaborate with Engineering Leadership and Platform teams to define, plan, and implement the infrastructure that supports autonomous coding agents throughout MaintainX.

• Guide, mentor, and develop your developers—assisting them in acquiring new skills related to agent frameworks, developer tooling, and platform engineering.

• Establish clear expectations, deliver continuous feedback, and assist the team in reaching their objectives.

• Advocate for software development excellence—ensuring robust CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, observability, and agent orchestration practices.

• Provide insights into team performance, progress, and risks to senior leadership—including metrics on agent-produced PR rates, adoption statistics, and quality safeguards.

• Work in partnership with Recruiting and other Software Development Managers to recruit, onboard, and expand a top-tier platform engineering organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in Software Development management with a proven track record of leading platform, DevEx, or infrastructure teams.

• A solid technical background in developer tooling, CI/CD, containerization, and distributed systems.

• Proven experience in technical design, problem-solving, and project management.

• A strong enthusiasm for hiring, mentoring, and nurturing diverse platform engineering teams.

• Knowledge of LLM agent frameworks, MCP tooling, or agentic coding infrastructure is considered a significant advantage.

• Exceptional communication skills - the ability to simplify complex concepts and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Bonus: experience in shipping an AI coding agent or contributing to a DevEx/platform initiative that has demonstrably enhanced engineering throughput.
