This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more state.
β’ Design, develop, and maintain the macOS client that serves as the core of our endpoint security solution β ensuring the code remains fast, resilient, and unobtrusive on every user's Mac.
β’ Contribute to the architecture of new features and services, offering technical guidance on increasingly complex projects.
β’ Assess functional and technical requirements to identify gaps and limitations, suggest simplifications, and effectively communicate ideas with cross-functional teams.
β’ Take responsibility for code quality β whether generated by agentic AI tools or fellow engineers β through thorough code reviews and pull-request feedback, ensuring compliance with unit testing and departmental guidelines. Collaborate with peers to establish and maintain formal guidelines where none exist.
β’ Enhance and refine build, deployment, and test automation within your team.
β’ Assist in identifying, prioritizing, and resolving technical debt within your team.
β’ Work collaboratively with your team to ensure that work items are clearly defined and understood, delivering value with quality in every sprint.
β’ Investigate and resolve customer issues escalated to engineering, and share insights gained back into the product.
β’ Monitor emerging macOS and security technologies and propose enhancements to the teamβs tools and development processes.
β’ Become the primary development expert in at least one area of the product, deepening your expertise over time.
β’ A degree in a software engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
β’ A robust software engineering background, with extensive hands-on development experience and specialized knowledge in at least one technical area.
β’ Practical experience in macOS platform development, with proficiency in Swift, Objective-C, and/or C++, and experience in building systems-level or endpoint security software.
β’ Hands-on experience with macOS, including the management and development of launch daemons and launch agents, unified logging, and the development of XPC components.
β’ Proven, hands-on experience directing agentic AI development tools, such as Claude Code β effectively framing problems, challenging inadequate outputs, and critically reviewing the generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
β’ Familiarity with formal software development methodologies.
β’ A minimum of 2 years of commercial software engineering experience for the Software Development Engineer level; typically, 5 or more years, including demonstrable technical leadership, for the Senior Software Development Engineer level.
