Software Development Engineer in Test, SDET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Advocate for an automation-focused approach; manual testing should be the exception rather than the norm.

• Create, develop, and enhance automated testing frameworks for APIs, user interfaces, and comprehensive microservice validation utilizing Node.js, Playwright, and associated frameworks.

• Establish load and resilience testing suites using Grafana k6 to benchmark and strengthen distributed systems.

• Seamlessly integrate test execution and quality checkpoints into GitHub Actions, ensuring that every commit, pull request, and deployment is verified by automation.

• Work closely with MCPs: Kafka event flows, service mesh routing (Istio), and inter-service contracts to design automated validation of message schemas, access control lists (ACLs), and service dependencies.

• Simulate responses by mocking endpoints with tools like Microcks or Postman.

• Spearhead the adoption of Test-Driven Development (TDD) by incorporating test scaffolds into developer workflows and enforcing test coverage standards across repositories.

• Integrate security testing and data validation measures into automation frameworks to proactively identify vulnerabilities.

• Develop test observability dashboards (using Grafana or Datadog) that present quality metrics alongside performance and error budgets.

• Conduct exploratory testing to enhance automation with contextual insights and edge-case validation.

• Collaborate with developers, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), and product managers to foster a unified understanding of quality across various environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical experience in designing and maintaining automated test frameworks for microservices and web applications.

• Strong expertise in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, or an equivalent modern programming language.

• Proven experience in integrating tests within CI/CD systems; ideally utilizing GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.

• Established history in load testing (Grafana k6) and performance evaluation at scale.

• Experience in validating MCP integrations, including message brokers (Kafka), service meshes (Istio), and REST/gRPC endpoints.

• Familiarity with Playwright or similar browser automation frameworks.

• Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD), security testing, and DevSecOps practices.

• Strong debugging, observability, and root-cause analysis skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

• Enthusiasm for promoting an automation-first culture and mentoring others in contemporary test engineering methodologies.
