Senior SDET – Test Automation, Performance Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance the automated testing framework across various products and engineering teams.

• Develop and manage automated API, integration, contract, end-to-end, regression, and relevant UI tests.

• Create reusable test frameworks, fixtures, synthetic data, mocks, and strategies for environments.

• Implement automated testing for distributed services and integrations within AWS environments.

• Plan and execute load, stress, spike, soak, scalability, degradation, and recovery testing.

• Convert performance and capacity scenarios into repeatable automated suites with measurable pass/fail criteria.

• Model realistic workloads, concurrency levels, traffic patterns, data volumes, and dependency behaviors.

• Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines and set quality and release gates.

• Develop automated release checks linked to quality, latency, reliability, and performance benchmarks.

• Identify, isolate, diagnose, and eliminate flaky tests.

• Enhance test observability and failure reporting.

• Construct and maintain reliable strategies for test data and test environments.

• Troubleshoot failures across APIs, services, databases, infrastructure, and external integrations.

• Collaborate with Performance & Reliability Engineering on scalability and production readiness.

• Work alongside Security Engineering to address permissions, isolation, negative-path, and abuse-related testing scenarios.

• Monitor testing trends and minimize escaped defects, flaky tests, manual release efforts, and regression risks.

• Mentor engineers on testability, automation, quality ownership, and defect prevention.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong experience as an SDET, Software Engineer in Test, Test Automation Engineer, Quality Engineer, or a similar engineering-focused testing role.

• Robust software development and test automation expertise.

• Experience in testing APIs, distributed services, integrations, and cloud-based applications.

• Practical experience within AWS environments.

• Significant experience in building automated API and integration test frameworks.

• Hands-on experience with performance and scalability testing using k6, Gatling, Locust, JMeter, or similar tools.

• Background in designing realistic performance workloads.

• Experience in load, stress, spike, soak, and scalability testing.

• Strong background in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience in establishing automated quality gates and release criteria.

• Familiarity with contract testing across service boundaries.

• Strong knowledge of test-data management, synthetic data, fixtures, mocks, and ensuring environment reliability.

• Experience utilizing logs, metrics, traces, and observability tools for failure diagnosis.

• Proficient in debugging across applications, APIs, infrastructure, databases, and integrations.

• Experience in identifying and reducing flaky automated tests.

• Ability to influence engineering teams and advocate for shared quality ownership.

• Nice-to-have: experience with high-scale SaaS or distributed platforms, highly available AWS applications, resilience and recovery testing, infrastructure-as-code, security-related testing, identity/DNS/registry/security domains, or shared quality platforms.
