Software Development Engineer in Test

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and implement sustainable, scalable, reliable, and thoroughly tested software within a secure cloud environment.

• Champion and enforce best practices in testing across all areas.

• Cultivate a quality-focused and testable approach within the team.

• Encourage shared accountability for quality and testing from the initial stages of projects.

• Assist in planning and refinement meetings to estimate testing efforts and identify dependencies.

• Collaborate with Software Engineers during the development process and code review to ensure adequate test coverage and minimize redundant efforts.

• Create and sustain tools for integration, regression, load, performance, and security testing.

• Analyze complex issues to identify root causes through log examination, database queries, and system behavior analysis.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in promoting modern software testing methodologies and mentoring engineers to foster a healthy, automation-first testing culture.

• Extensive background in developing and sustaining automated test suites across the full testing pyramid, covering unit, component, integration, end-to-end, load, and performance testing.

• High level of expertise in various testing strategies (TDD, BDD, Black/White Box), as well as mocking/stubbing, test data management, and reporting test results.

• Practical experience with native Golang testing frameworks and UI tools such as Playwright.

• Willingness to learn Golang if already skilled in another programming language.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps methodologies including Infrastructure as Code, and cloud services like GCP.

• Strong understanding of event-driven, distributed microservice architectures and containerization.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Git workflows, OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns, and software security practices, including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.

• Highly organized with strong analytical problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to knowledge sharing, and pride in the quality of work produced.
