Software Development Engineer III, Social Listing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of critical subsystems and significant features from problem identification and technical design to development, deployment, monitoring, and impact assessment.

• Spearhead major technical projects, encompassing architecture, design, implementation, rollout plans, and post-release enhancements.

• Detect and address scalability bottlenecks, reliability concerns, performance challenges, technical debt, usability deficiencies, and operational inefficiencies.

• Design and manage robust distributed systems utilizing message queues, background workers, schedulers, retries, idempotency, caching, and high-volume third-party platform API integrations.

• Anticipate scaling needs, edge cases, failure scenarios, rate limitations, API modifications, and implications for downstream systems.

• Assess architectural and technological trade-offs regarding scalability, reliability, maintainability, cost, development speed, and customer impact.

• Develop data pipelines that collect and enhance large volumes of social data and metrics for rapid analytics and insights.

• Handle image and video media at scale, covering aspects such as upload, transformation, optimization, generation, storage, and delivery.

• Deliver backend APIs and frontend experiences with a focus on usability, performance, accessibility, and customer satisfaction.

• Create production-grade AI functionalities using LLMs, image/video generation, embeddings, RAG, tool calling, and agentic workflows.

• Identify and validate AI opportunities through prototypes and measurable results.

• Advocate for Test-Driven Development and robust automated testing practices.

• Ensure production quality through observability, monitoring, incident analysis, root-cause investigation, and corrective measures.

• Enhance engineering quality through code reviews, design evaluations, standards, documentation, testing methodologies, and maintainable architecture.

• Mentor engineers and facilitate technical decision-making via discussions, reviews, prototypes, and knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of practical software engineering experience in building and managing production systems, ideally SaaS products at a significant scale.

• Proven experience in independently overseeing complex or business-critical features or services from design to production.

• Practical experience in constructing distributed systems utilizing message queues, background workers, schedulers, retries, idempotency, caching, and high-volume third-party API integrations.

• Extensive experience in integrating with third-party APIs, including handling rate limits, authentication, token management, webhooks, retries, API version changes, partial failures, and unreliable external dependencies.

• Strong capability to proactively identify system issues and drive enhancements across scalability, reliability, performance, maintainability, and technical debt.

• Solid understanding of system design and architectural trade-offs.

• Strong engineering principles and experience in writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code utilizing Test-Driven Development or similar methodologies.

• Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js; experience with NestJS is preferred.

• Experience in developing customer-facing web applications using Vue.js, React, Angular, or other modern frontend frameworks.

• Familiarity with UI/UX principles and the ability to identify usability gaps.

• Experience with MongoDB, Redis, and data-intensive applications.

• Expertise in large-scale data ingestion, ETL/ELT, analytics, or data warehousing using systems like ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, Elasticsearch, or similar technologies.

• Practical experience in building AI-driven software using LLM APIs, embeddings, RAG, image/video generation, tool calling, or agentic workflows.

• Ability to transition AI features into dependable production systems considering evaluation, observability, guardrails, cost factors, and failure management.

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development and AI coding tools.

• Customer-focused and product-oriented mindset.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote setting.
