Software Development Engineer II – Commerce

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create and deploy multi-tenant services for checkout, subscriptions, payment orchestration, invoicing, and tax integration.

• Integrate Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and local payment options, including UPI, digital wallets, Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL), cards/3DS, resilient webhooks, and idempotent APIs.

• Develop an append-only double-entry ledger and utilize event sourcing/CQRS where beneficial for scalability and accuracy.

• Produce high-quality production code with comprehensive test coverage and OpenTelemetry instrumentation.

• Manage services on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) with CI/CD, autoscaling, Service Level Indicators (SLIs)/Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and on-call responsibilities.

• Work in collaboration with product managers and designers.

• Provide mentorship to junior engineers.

• Design foundational models for subscriptions, payments, reconciliation, and taxation.

• Establish event contracts, data policies, and consistency guarantees for accurate and traceable transactions at scale.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in software development.

• Proficient in MongoDB/Firestore, Redis, and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub).

• Strong understanding of distributed systems principles: idempotency, retries, ordering, concurrency, and consistency.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform (GCP); knowledge of secrets management/KMS and PCI basics.

• Rigorous testing practices: unit, integration, contract, and performance tests.

• Expertise in schema design for scalability and backward compatibility.

• Excellent skills in debugging and problem-solving.

• Capability to create responsive, accessible, and high-performing user interfaces that seamlessly integrate with backend APIs.

• Familiarity with component-driven design, state management, and contemporary frontend development tools (Vite, ESLint, etc.).

• Proficient in Go, ConnectRPC, Buf, Vue.js, Vite, Webpack, MFA, TanStack Query, MongoDB, Firestore, ClickHouse, GCP/GKE, Pub/Sub, Redis, and OpenTelemetry.
