Software Development Engineer II – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, test, and maintain scalable backend services utilizing Node.js and TypeScript.

• Create and sustain REST APIs that are utilized by various HighLevel products and services.

• Produce clean, maintainable, testable, and production-ready code.

• Handle high-volume datasets while optimizing database queries and data-access techniques.

• Develop asynchronous processing workflows using queues and an event-driven architecture.

• Identify performance bottlenecks in APIs and databases.

• Work with caching, indexing, batching, and asynchronous processing methodologies.

• Enhance service latency, throughput, and scalability.

• Monitor production services and troubleshoot failures through logs, metrics, traces, and observability platforms.

• Debug and resolve issues in production environments.

• Participate in on-call duties and incident resolution processes.

• Contribute to root cause analyses and sustainable solutions.

• Write unit and integration tests for new features.

• Engage in code reviews.

• Adhere to secure coding practices and engineering best practices.

• Enhance existing code through refactoring and reducing technical debt.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in backend development.

• Strong practical experience with Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.

• Proficient in designing and using REST APIs.

• Solid understanding of microservices architecture.

• Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

• Knowledge of database indexing and query optimization techniques.

• Experience with asynchronous processing and message queuing systems.

• Proficient with Git, CI/CD, and automated testing practices.

• Familiarity with Docker containerization.

• Exposure to AWS, GCP, or another major cloud platform.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to independently design, develop, test, and deploy scalable backend solutions.

• Capability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and infrastructure teams.
