Software Architect – Systems Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Morocco.

📋 Description

• Take charge of system design – you determine how data is structured, where state resides, how components interact, and how the system performs under pressure.

• Create and manage our data layer from scratch – including tables and relationships, indexing strategies, and optimizations for queries and load that can scale with increasing data and traffic.

• Design queues, background jobs, and long-running workflows that maintain accuracy and reliability, even under significant load and during partial failures.

• Make crucial, hard-to-reverse design choices early on, providing clear reasoning about the associated trade-offs.

• Develop and sustain our web application.

• Participate in architectural decisions, influence the direction of our technology stack, and contribute to the overall product vision.

• Construct robust pipelines for processing documents, emails, and third-party integrations that can handle spikes in volume smoothly.

• Build and refine agents for our expanding template library.

• Enhance our RAG/knowledge-base system (embeddings, semantic search, re-ranking).

• Work in an AI-driven development environment supported by Claude/Cursor.

• Oversee version control and team collaboration using GitHub.

⛳️ Requirements

• A solid background in systems design – you can create a database from the ground up (including tables, relationships, and indexes) and understand database load, query performance, and data growth, not just perform CRUD operations on an existing schema.

• A natural inclination to consider consistency, throughput, failure modes, and potential bottlenecks – you can foresee where the system may encounter issues before they arise.

• Proficient in designing queues, background jobs, and long-running workflows, with the insight to navigate the difficult trade-offs involved.

• You prioritize reliability, scalability, and maintainability as fundamental concerns. If you’ve read "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" (Kleppmann) or think in a similar manner, you will feel at ease here.

• Strong English communication skills to facilitate seamless collaboration within the team.

• Capability to work independently and take full ownership of your responsibilities.
