Software Architect, Python, AWS, AI

Posted Jul 21

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Serve as the architectural authority, overseeing the design of the deterministic/AI boundary, the multi-tenant data isolation framework, and the security posture for LLM; establish baseline architectural decisions in the first week to set team constraints.

• Assume technical ownership from design through delivery – customize solutions to meet Alpine's defined requirements (FastAPI + PostgreSQL + AWS Bedrock + ECS Fargate) while preventing scope creep and managing technical debt.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements – engage with client leadership to transform business and compliance demands into architectural constraints (such as multi-tenant isolation, run-to-run consistency guarantees, and audit trails).

• Evaluate and plan for technology integration – analyze architectural trade-offs (for example, the advantages of a single bounded AI step over two, the benefits of RLS + FORCE ROW LEVEL SECURITY compared to application-layer filtering, and the significance of Pydantic schema validation as the output gate).

• Oversee risk identification and mitigation – identify and minimize delivery risks (such as CISO golden-set availability, prompt-injection surface area, and cross-tenant isolation defects) with tangible mitigation strategies.

• Influence and articulate the vision – establish the long-term product roadmap (Tools 1–5), technical vision (the 5-section Source of Truth structure, the 7-stage pipeline design), and development strategy (agentic-orchestration approach, vertical slices, and always-functional milestones).

• Participate in code reviews and architectural documentation – assess critical paths (Bedrock adapter, RLS policies, Stage 4 calibration logic); document architectural decision records (ADRs) that explain the rationale, not just the outcomes.

• Lead and mentor the team – provide guidance to the AI/LLM Lead and Backend engineers on AI reliability, security patterns, and multi-tenant design; escalate ambiguities to higher management instead of allowing them to trickle down to individual engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

• A minimum of 5 years as a Software Architect with hands-on expertise in:

• Python and asynchronous patterns (FastAPI, async/await).

• PostgreSQL and multi-tenant database architecture (RLS, row-level security, schema isolation).

• AWS cloud architecture (Fargate, RDS, IAM, Secrets Manager, Bedrock).

• LLM system design (prompt engineering, consistency guarantees, output validation, prompt injection defense).

• Security architecture (least-privilege access, encryption in transit, audit logging, cross-tenant isolation).

• Operational excellence in design methodologies – proficiency in architectural patterns (layered, event-driven, pipeline), UML/C4 models, and decision-record documentation.

• Experience in designing SaaS or highly scalable distributed applications on the cloud.

• Leadership experience in Agile teams – demonstrated ability to work in sprint-based deliveries, establish technical standards, and communicate trade-offs to product and engineering stakeholders.

• High-level design expertise – C4 models, architecture decision records (ADRs), and risk matrices.

• DevOps and CI/CD proficiency – Terraform, Docker, automated testing, migration guards, security scanning.

• Strong command of English – ability to articulate architectural concepts to global teams, clients, and executive stakeholders.

• Natural leader with critical reasoning skills – comfortable making architectural decisions in ambiguous situations and defending those choices to stakeholders.
