This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Designing and enhancing the architecture of mission-critical fintech applications.
• Establishing architectural standards, engineering principles, and best practices across various teams.
• Leading architectural reviews and validating the technical solutions proposed by engineering teams.
• Creating highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Driving system decomposition, defining domain boundaries, and managing service interactions.
• Collaborating with Technical Leads to address complex technical challenges and strategic initiatives.
• Engaging in the design of integrations with banking systems, compliance services, and other external platforms.
• Identifying and addressing technical risks, bottlenecks, and scalability constraints.
• Supporting modernization efforts, architectural refactoring, and the reduction of technical debt.
• Working closely with Product and Business stakeholders to translate business requirements into sustainable technical solutions.
• Mentoring senior engineers and technical leaders on architecture and engineering methodologies.
• Over 8 years of backend development experience.
• Strong commercial expertise in PHP and Symfony.
• Prior experience in roles such as Software Architect, System Architect, Solution Architect, Principal Engineer, or Lead Backend Engineer with significant architecture responsibility.
• Experience in FinTech, Payments, Banking, EMI, PSP, or Open Banking sectors.
• Profound understanding of OOP, SOLID, GRASP, and design patterns.
• Extensive experience in designing high-load and distributed systems.
• Strong grasp of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Familiarity with Event-Driven Architecture, CQRS, and Event Sourcing.
• Experience in designing microservice architectures and service communication patterns.
• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL, performance optimization, and database design.
• Experience with Redis, message brokers, caching strategies, and asynchronous processing.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native environments.
• Understanding of system observability, monitoring, logging, and performance analysis.
• Experience in documenting and presenting architectural decisions.
• Ability to balance business objectives with technical excellence.
