Software Architect, Enterprise Apps – Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full responsibility for the architecture across web, mobile, services, and data, encompassing application structure, data models, integration patterns, security, and Azure deployment topology.

• Manage application security across the entire platform, including access control, least-privilege authorization, secure development lifecycle, secrets and key management, encryption, dependency and vulnerability management, and audit logging.

• Spearhead the mobile strategy and execution, covering cross-platform architecture, offline-first synchronization, conflict resolution, device and release management, and app distribution.

• Oversee the delivery of the roadmap, which includes field inventory tracking, loaner and consignment management, audit and inventory control tools, notifications, and scheduling.

• Design and manage integrations with ERP, PLM, identity, reporting/BI, surgical planning, and navigation platforms.

• Enhance inventory visibility below the distributor/agency level to facilitate asset location, auditing, and repositioning.

• Provide technical leadership to offshore engineering teams and contractors; establish standards, conduct design and code reviews, and define the criteria for completion.

• Set and enforce branching strategies, CI/CD, automated testing, environment management, release processes, and maintain technical documentation.

• Preserve institutional knowledge through architecture decision records, runbooks, and onboarding materials.

• Collaborate with commercial, operations, quality, and executive stakeholders to convert business challenges into a prioritized technical roadmap.

• Contribute to evaluations of build-vs-buy scenarios using architectural insights and total-cost analysis.

• Engage in hands-on architecture, code contributions and reviews, lead distributed engineering resources, and take responsibility for a production system that supports critical daily operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.

• Over 10 years of experience in building and delivering production software.

• More than 3 years in an architect or technical lead role.

• Proven track record of ownership of production mobile applications on both iOS and Android platforms.

• Experience with React Native or a similar cross-platform framework.

• Demonstrated experience in managing mobile applications from design through release and post-launch operations.

• Experience overseeing a business-critical enterprise application at a significant scale, including hundreds of users and handling transactional workloads.

• Solid experience in integrating with ERP systems and enterprise records.

• Proven ability to lead distributed and/or contract engineering teams to meet delivery commitments.

• Preferred experience in medical device, life sciences, or other regulated-industry software, including familiarity with 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, or IEC 62304.

• Domain knowledge in orthopedics, surgical workflow, field inventory, consignment, or medical device distribution is preferred.

• Previous experience in stabilizing and scaling a platform passed down from contractors or a previous team is desirable.

• Practical understanding of offline-first mobile architecture, including local persistence, background synchronization, conflict resolution, and graceful handling of poor connectivity.

• Preferred knowledge of mobile device management, enterprise app distribution, and app store release procedures.
