SME, Vessel Performance and Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Tasked with providing support to Product Owners, Product Managers, and development teams in delivering software applications that offer insights into vessel performance, voyage management, and emissions, aiding ship owners in optimizing fuel consumption and minimizing their carbon footprint.

• Must possess knowledge of relevant industry standards, including MARPOL, ISO, EU ETS, and IMO guidelines, and stay informed about the latest updates and changes.

• Capable of identifying and comprehending sources of vessel performance data—such as LLI/AIS, vessel noon reports, sensor data, and voyage management system data—and translating this information into calculations that yield aggregated insights for vessels and fleets.

• Assist customer-facing teams like implementation services, customer success, and sales when necessary to clarify calculation requirements and enhance customers' understanding of how their data is utilized to generate insights in our product.

• Contribute to product development through research and analysis of industry calculations, articulating the methodology needed to derive values for calculations that drive product features.

• Facilitate digital product delivery by ensuring compliance with technical standards on calculations and identifying additional sources of industry data that can provide further context to improve insights.

• Aid in the exploration and development of advanced analytics and insight opportunities, including predictive forecasting models.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-10 years of experience in ship mechanics and systems, hydrodynamics, and vessel power generation and propulsion systems.

• Over 2 years of onshore experience in industry practices related to vessel performance monitoring, voyage operations, and emissions tracking.

• Proficient in analyzing and understanding industry-relevant datasets to facilitate domain knowledge transfer and assist in troubleshooting with software development teams.

• Effective in communicating industry domain knowledge clearly and concisely to a diverse audience, ranging from C-Suite executives to ground-level teams and stakeholders.

• Experience with a variety of vessel types, trading patterns, and chartering practices is preferred.

• Previous involvement in ship commercial operations and a strong grasp of chartering and ship management processes is preferred.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and the software development workflow is preferred.

• Knowledge of data visualization techniques is preferred.

• Technical proficiency in coding (SQL, Python, etc.) is preferred.
