Smart Manufacturing Consultant – Hands-on IT/OT, Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create and oversee the implementation of edge-to-cloud industrial data and application architectures across worldwide manufacturing locations.

• Connect OT systems (PLC/SCADA/DCS/MES/Historians) with cloud services (Azure/AWS/Snowflake, etc.) to ensure ISA-95 interoperability and maintain strong cybersecurity measures.

• Evaluate architectural designs and verify the feasibility of implementation strategies.

• Collaborate with Cloud Engineers and OT consultants to ensure ISA-95 compliant IT/OT integration.

• Confirm edge-to-cloud data flow requirements and logically model the hierarchy of factory assets.

• Influence architectural decisions regarding data ingestion, storage, and analytics using Azure, AWS, and Snowflake services.

• Work with site IT/networking to ensure connectivity preparedness while adhering to cybersecurity best practices.

• Manage the go-live checklist and resolve issues during integration testing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in industrial IT/OT, smart factory, or manufacturing digitalization positions, with architect-level responsibility for designs and implementations.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience in delivering edge-to-cloud integration within actual factory settings.

• Strong knowledge of:

• ISA-95 (integration patterns and layers of manufacturing systems)

• Industrial architectures (OT network segmentation, DMZ patterns, edge gateways)

• Core OT systems (PLC/SCADA/DCS, historian, MES) and methods of data acquisition.

• Experience in cloud architecture on Azure and/or AWS, with familiarity in Snowflake, Databricks, and modern data platforms.

• Strong fundamentals in networking (firewalls, VLANs, routing, certificates, proxies) and troubleshooting within constrained environments.

• Understanding of identity and access management (Azure AD/RBAC/Managed Identities or AWS IAM, secrets, key management).

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of steering technical discussions with security, IT, OT, and business stakeholders around the globe.
