Site Reliability Engineer – System & Network

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee the base operating systems and hypervisor fleets for Exoscale, including their network infrastructures and security filtering layers.

• Contribute to the implementation of routing and security automation systems.

• Assist in shaping our image strategy, from bare metal to Virtual Machines.

• Maintain the runtimes for system containers.

• Enhance our provisioning and deployment systems.

• Help optimize the performance of bare metal and hypervisor systems.

• Contribute to the overall design and architecture of the Exoscale platform systems.

• Participate in the development of internal tools.

• Improve our systems and processes to ensure they are scalable and highly available, helping to achieve exceptional SLAs.

• Engage in code and change reviews.

• Join the on-call rotation after completing a training period.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess substantial experience with Linux, including its kernel and systems.

• Familiarity with KVM virtualization is required.

• Knowledge of network routing and transport/encapsulation protocols such as BGP, VXLAN, and EVPN is essential.

• Comfortable working with routing daemons like FRR and Bird.

• Strong understanding of Linux filtering using iptables and nftables.

• Good knowledge of container runtimes is necessary.

• Experience with Golang and Python is important.

• Familiarity with server hardware is advantageous.

• Experience with configuration management solutions and large-scale infrastructure is required.

• A passion for automating any processes that can be automated.

• Must be curious, self-sufficient, and eager to learn new things daily.

• Team-oriented individuals who are comfortable collaborating within a distributed team are preferred.

• Proficient in English communication skills, both written and spoken.
