Site Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage a distributed global ecosystem comprising thousands of cloud instances, containerized workflows, serverless applications, Linux servers, and related infrastructure that handles billions of requests each day.

• Oversee transactional database infrastructure utilizing MySQL, PostgreSQL, RDS, and Aurora.

• Provide support for NoSQL data storage solutions, including DynamoDB and MongoDB.

• Develop and maintain data stream processing systems using Kinesis or Kafka.

• Assist with data engineering and big data toolchains such as Spark.

• Maintain production systems in a 24x7x365 setting, including on-call duties.

• Offer architectural and operational support to software engineering teams.

• Collaborate with software and data engineering teams to promote operational best practices.

• Implement and manage security initiatives, including vulnerability remediation, patch management, IDS/IPS, penetration testing, and coordination with the corporate InfoSec team.

• Support development-to-production code deployment pipelines for production applications.

• Provide tools and guidance for monitoring and observability best practices.

• Assist development teams in troubleshooting efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in systems/platform engineering.

• Proven experience in building globally-distributed systems.

• Strong grasp of security best practices.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.

• Proficiency in branching and merge-based source code configuration management using Git and GitHub.

• Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef or Ansible.

• Experience with container-based architectures, including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Proficient in one or more high-level programming languages, such as TypeScript, Go, Python, PHP, Ruby, or Java.

• Experience with AWS and other cloud infrastructure platforms.

• Comfortable writing SQL queries and analyzing query performance.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies in a dynamic environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong time management skills and a self-motivated work ethic.
