This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Conduct thorough Critical Environment Gap Assessments (CEGA) for data centers and mission-critical facilities via visual, non-intrusive inspections of MEP systems.
• Execute in-depth evaluations of electrical power systems (UPS, generators, PDUs, transformers, switchgear), cooling infrastructures (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units), fire suppression systems, and building automation systems.
• Evaluate equipment condition, redundancy configurations (N, N+1, 2N), compliance with industry standards (NFPA, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE), while identifying single points of failure or deferred maintenance.
• Create feasibility studies for generator systems, UPS replacement strategies, and HVAC design analysis, complete with phased implementation plans.
• Act as the primary client liaison during site visits, conducting stakeholder interviews, coordinating logistics, and presenting findings to client leadership teams.
• Produce detailed technical proposals that define scope, deliverables, pricing, and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for capital improvements.
• Write comprehensive assessment reports that include executive summaries, MEP systems analysis, code compliance gaps, prioritized recommendations with implementation timelines, and opinion of probable costs.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects by monitoring hours, expenses, profitability metrics, and ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
• Maintain organized documentation, including photo archives, equipment inventory matrices, and management presentations that adhere to JLL quality standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field.
• At least 5-7 years of practical experience in critical facilities, data centers, or mission-critical infrastructure.
• Proven expertise in electrical power systems (UPS, generators, PDUs, ATS, switchgear), mechanical cooling systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC, evaporative cooling), fire suppression and life safety systems, and building automation systems.
• Strong understanding of Uptime Institute Tier Standards, NFPA codes (70, 75, 110), data center design best practices, redundancy configurations, and equipment lifecycle management.
• Demonstrated experience in developing technical proposals, scope documents, and ROM cost estimates for capital projects.
• Strong financial acumen enabling the tracking of project profitability and budget management while effectively handling multiple concurrent projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical and executive-level audiences.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable with photo documentation and digital asset management.
• Willingness and ability to travel 30% (domestic) and conduct multi-day site assessments.
• Physical capability to navigate facility environments, including rooftops, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, confined spaces, and climbing ladders.
• Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Relevant certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), or equivalent.
• Experience with data center commissioning or recommissioning.
• Familiarity with specific equipment manufacturers and a background in consulting or professional services environments.
• Experience with MS Project or similar CRM/project management platforms.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drawing review software and knowledge of building automation systems and DCIM platforms.
