This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Assess vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic evaluations
• Recognize worn and damaged components with a focus on safety, quality, and customer uptime
• Address vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems
• Deliver technical services for vehicles and equipment
• Review Repair Orders, observe, and listen to the vehicle in operation to identify malfunctions and plan work procedures
• Execute both general and detailed repairs on all trucks, engines, and components
• Overhaul gas or diesel engines
• Install injectors, pistons, liners, camshafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts
• Lubricate moving parts and drive the repaired vehicle to ensure compliance with specifications
• Inform the Service Supervisor if further repair work is required
• Label all warranty parts and return them to the warranty clerk
• Adhere to safe work practices and procedures, utilize safety equipment when necessary, respond to suggestions for safe working, and seek assistance when needed
• Carry out machine shop operations making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
• A combination of education, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
• Related technical school training is preferred
• Three to five years of experience in commercial truck technical service
• Experience with PAACAR, International, Cummins, Eaton, and Allison is desired
• Engine certifications are preferred: Cummins, Detroit, International, etc.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform job responsibilities
• Capability to work and learn independently
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
• Proficiency in using various Windows-based computer software
• Experience with engine software is a plus
• Valid commercial driver's license is preferred
• Engage in training opportunities to maintain certification in OEM products
• Attend training classes and stay updated on factory technical bulletins
• Keep a tidy and organized working area
