Server Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Support the design, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Linux systems.

• Aid in the design, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Windows systems within the HPC environment.

• Manage and oversee core internal storage, backup, and recovery systems.

• Diagnose and resolve HPC-related issues, which may originate from either Linux or Windows systems.

• Organize and coordinate maintenance windows for server and storage hardware with support staff.

• Collaborate with support personnel and project managers to coordinate application deployment.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related technical field from an accredited four-year institution is mandatory.

• At least 12 years of full-time experience in complex IT environments is essential.

• A certification related to systems (such as MCSE, VCAP, RHCE, or equivalent) is required.

• Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking in large high-performance, high-availability settings.

• Strong networking abilities, including an understanding of LAN, WAN, firewall, and VPN concepts.

• Experience with enterprise-level central backup software, VTL, and/or tape libraries.

• Solid understanding of network-attached storage (NFS/SMB) and Fibre Channel SAN technology in a multi-path environment.

• Experience managing containers within an enterprise setting.

• Familiarity with encryption technologies and their implementations.

• Acquainted with software development tools such as Git, GitHub, and Subversion.

• Experience with automated bare metal provisioning practices.

• Background in a highly regulated industry is preferred.

• Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
