SEO & AI Search Content Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take charge of SEO for step.com, encompassing on-page optimization, site structure, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, and technical audits while collaborating with web engineering to implement solutions.

• Lead the Money 101 blog from start to finish, including editorial strategy, keyword and topic research, daily content scheduling, publishing, writing, freelance and AI-assisted production, as well as content assessments.

• Enhance content visibility for LLM and AI searches across platforms such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews.

• Strengthen Step’s authority through backlink acquisition and digital PR initiatives.

• Improve social media channels, particularly YouTube, for enhanced search visibility.

• Collaborate with Performance and Affiliate teams to enhance ad and affiliate content.

• Establish E-E-A-T signals and work alongside legal/compliance on financial marketing standards.

• Manage reporting on rankings, traffic, conversions, and AI citation share.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in SEO and content, with at least one position responsible for strategy and hands-on execution at a consumer app, fintech, or growth-stage startup.

• Excellent writing and editing capabilities, with proficiency in creating polished, accurate personal finance content on a daily basis.

• Proven track record of increasing organic traffic through keyword strategy, on-page SEO, technical SEO, and content ranking.

• Solid understanding of AEO and GEO, including how LLMs and AI search platforms choose, summarize, and cite sources.

• Practical experience in optimizing content for AI search platforms.

• Familiarity with YouTube SEO or video content optimization.

• Proficient in tools such as Ahrefs or SEMrush, Google Search Console, GA4, and schema/structured data.

• Experience managing backlink and digital PR campaigns.

• Ability to handle daily publishing operations, technical roadmaps, and experiments concurrently.

• Experience in personal finance or fintech is a plus.

• Knowledge of Contentful and basic HTML/CSS is an advantage.

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
