Senior/Staff Software Engineer – Moonpay Enterprise

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage high-throughput Rust backend services that handle financial transactions with guarantees of correctness, idempotency, and auditability.

• Create KYB/KYC verification processes, risk scoring, sanctions and AML screening, case management solutions, and integrations with compliance vendors.

• Architect backend systems for digital asset custody, focusing on key management, policy engines, transaction authorization, ledger integrity, and audit trails.

• Develop services for minting, burning, managing stablecoins, as well as smart contract operations, indexing, monitoring, and reconciliation across blockchain networks.

• Take ownership of features throughout the entire lifecycle from product specification and technical design to implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring.

• Contribute to product definition and suggest high-value initiatives as a subject matter expert.

• Integrate with banks, payment processors, blockchain platforms, identity vendors, and compliance solutions.

• Enhance observability, incident response, security protocols, and API architecture.

• Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering teams within MoonPay’s global ecosystem.

• At the Staff level, establish technical direction, mentor fellow engineers, and influence architectural decisions across teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of backend engineering experience; 8 years required for the Staff level.

• Proven history of deploying and managing production systems at scale.

• Strong backend expertise with a statically typed language such as Rust, Go, C#, or C++.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems, API architecture, data modeling, and asynchronous processing.

• Experience in precision-critical areas such as financial systems, double-entry ledgers, reconciliation, or related software.

• A pragmatic, independent, ownership-oriented approach.

• Strong analytical skills and effective use of AI-assisted development while ensuring correctness, security, and design integrity.

• Genuine interest in cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and the evolution of payment systems.

• For Track 3, hands-on experience in blockchain development is anticipated.

• Professional or personal experience with Rust is advantageous.

• Additional experience in fiat payments, banking integrations, card networks, or payment service providers is a plus.

• Familiarity with KYC/KYB, AML, sanctions screening, or regulated financial products is beneficial for Track 1.

• Background in custody, key management (MPC/HSM), or institutional-grade security is a plus for Track 2.

• Experience in smart contract development using Solidity or Rust, as well as on-chain indexing or node infrastructure, is advantageous for Track 3.

• Experience working within regulated, multi-jurisdictional frameworks is a plus.
