Senior/Principal Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable, secure, and dependable data platforms, pipelines, and data products.

• Lead architectural discussions concerning data modeling, storage solutions, integration patterns, and the evolution of the platform.

• Assume full ownership of technical solutions and engage in architectural and engineering decision-making.

• Create and execute batch and streaming data solutions utilizing contemporary cloud-native technologies.

• Spearhead platform modernization efforts and ongoing technical enhancements.

• Establish and advocate for engineering best practices, encompassing CI/CD, testing, observability, security, and data quality.

• Mentor and assist Data Engineers through technical advice, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

• Oversee onboarding processes for new team members and facilitate their integration into the engineering team.

• Work collaboratively with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.

• Contribute to the development of technical roadmaps and impact engineering direction across various teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, with a minimum of 3–5+ years in hands-on Data Engineering.

• Upper-Intermediate English proficiency or higher.

• Extensive experience in building and managing scalable data platforms and pipelines in cloud environments.

• Advanced knowledge of SQL.

• Strong comprehension of data modeling and architecture principles.

• Proficient programming skills in Python.

• Practical experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, and Kafka.

• Experience in developing ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration workflows.

• Robust AWS cloud experience and familiarity with cloud-native data services.

• Proven experience in designing modern data warehouse or lakehouse architectures.

• Strong skills in system design and problem-solving.

• Ability to balance business and technical priorities when making architectural decisions.

• Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across technical and business teams.

• Experience with Scala or Java is advantageous.

• Familiarity with real-time data streaming architectures is a plus.

• Exposure to large-scale distributed systems is beneficial.

• Experience with observability and data quality frameworks is a plus.

• Involvement in platform modernization initiatives is advantageous.

• Background in enterprise analytics or machine learning data platforms is a plus.
