This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and develop a packet forwarding engine and system software for Arista's Linux-based EOS network operating system.

• Grasp both functional and technical requirements for forthcoming projects.

• Draft functional specifications, design specifications, and test plans.

• Implement software utilizing C, C++, and Python.

• Utilize, test, and troubleshoot vendor-supplied software libraries for packet forwarding engines and hardware components.

• Create and execute automated testing procedures.

• Diagnose and resolve issues identified by automated tests.

• Initiate new hardware setups and develop features that require hardware forwarding support, including low-level hardware drivers.

• Assist customers by analyzing network issues and providing software releases or patches.

• Collaborate with hardware teams, hardware component suppliers, diagnostic software teams, and System Test Engineers.

• Design and create validation software for new packet forwarding engine ASICs and hardware components.

• Mentor new and junior engineers.

• Review and contribute to team specifications and implementations.

• Create, update, and communicate implementation and debugging timelines to the project lead.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in one of these fields with 6 years of experience; or a Ph.D. in one of these fields with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience.

• Experience or familiarity with C or C++.

• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux operating systems.

• Understanding of IP networking or distributed systems.

• Practical understanding of software engineering principles.

• Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting capabilities.

• Ability to design and implement a solution for a small-sized problem independently.

• Capability to collaborate on a small team to address a medium-sized problem with minimal oversight.
