Senior/Lead Process Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Oversee process engineering design activities for systems within nuclear, chemical, high-hazard, or DOE facilities.

• Create, evaluate, and authorize process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, heat and material balances, process calculations, hydraulic analyses, and technical documentation.

• Conduct and manage equipment sizing for vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, piping systems, process utilities, control valves, relief devices, and associated process equipment.

• Assist in process safety initiatives, hazard assessments, operability reviews, design assessments, safety basis interactions, and the implementation of established process controls.

• Spearhead the creation of process design criteria, system descriptions, specifications, datasheets, procurement packages, and vendor technical assessments.

• Collaborate with piping, instrumentation and control, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, civil/structural, radiological controls, criticality safety, quality, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.

• Assess vendor data, address technical comments, evaluate design modifications, and offer engineering support throughout procurement, construction, testing, startup, and commissioning phases.

• Guide process engineers and designers to ensure technical quality, adherence to schedules, configuration management, and fulfillment of client expectations.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering field.

• Over 10 years of process engineering experience within DOE, nuclear, chemical, high-hazard, fuel cycle, radiological, or highly regulated industrial environments.

• Extensive experience with process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, hydraulics, process calculations, equipment sizing, process safety, technical specifications, and design leadership.

• Proven capability to lead process design efforts and coordinate engineering outputs across various disciplines.

• Practical knowledge of process hazards, development of design bases, system operability, configuration management, and requirements for regulated facilities.

• Excellent technical writing, communication, leadership, review, and problem-solving skills.

• Capacity to secure and retain necessary site access, training, and security clearances.

• US citizenship is required due to the nature of government contract and clearance requirements.
