This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Assist the ALTESS Windows team within a dynamic and expanding Windows Server 2019 and 2022 environment.
• Oversee, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot, and provide support for Windows Server 2019/2022 systems across a varied customer base.
• Strategize, implement, and execute the deployment of new system hardware and software.
• Develop and uphold technical documentation, operating procedures, and policies for the team.
• Monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency.
• Strengthen server security and provide reports regarding overall security and operational status.
• Suggest improvements at the enterprise level and oversee the integration of new software and hardware.
• Generate utilization reports to pinpoint issues and recommend corrective measures.
• Assist in managing the lifecycle of mixed-vendor equipment within the datacenter, including firmware version control and preventive maintenance activities.
• Propose, showcase, and implement technologies aimed at enhancing and upgrading the current operational environment.
• Support critical Army IT services across enterprise data centers and cloud-hosted infrastructures.
• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred; however, equivalent years of hands-on Windows systems administration experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Computing Environment (CE) Certification (e.g., MCSE, Server+, CCNA, RedHat, Palo) is preferred; may be waived for 30 days following the project start date.
• Background in Computer Science or IT.
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance is required.
• A minimum of five years' experience as a Windows Systems Administrator or Engineer.
• At least three years of experience in automating tasks using PowerShell.
• Five or more years' experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex applications and websites (IIS, Apache, etc.).
• Minimum of five years' experience in complex networking environments, with advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, and SNMP.
• Five or more years' experience in managing enterprise-level Active Directory structures.
• Five or more years' experience in creating and maintaining complex MS Group Policy implementations.
• Five or more years' experience in developing, maintaining, and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures for repeatable processes, disaster recovery, and common issue resolution.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to being a team player.
• Preferred: Seven or more years' experience supporting Cybersecurity patch management, STIGs, SRG, RMF, SCA-V, and Cyber Operational Readiness Assessments (CORA).
• This position is eligible for remote work.
• Local candidates have the option to work on-site or in a hybrid model if preferred.
• Occasional travel to government facilities or data center locations may be necessary.
