Senior Industry Research Agreements Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the management, analysis, drafting, negotiation, and execution of intricate industry-funded sponsored project agreements independently.

• Oversee agreements related to clinical trials, collaborations, investigator-initiated projects, sponsored research, master agreements, and business associate agreements.

• Negotiate and formulate contract terms in alignment with University and sponsor requirements, while mitigating risks and safeguarding research agendas and intellectual property.

• Collaborate with various entities, including CRSO, Collaborations and Entrepreneurship, OHSU Legal, Risk Management, ORIO, funders, sponsors, principal investigators, and departments.

• Ensure that payment schedules, budgets, reporting obligations, termination timelines, and deliverables are comprehensive, feasible, and compliant with policies.

• Convert program requirements into contract terms adhering to relevant policies, laws, regulations, and guidelines.

• Confirm internal prior approvals, compliance obligations, and documentation from subcontract institutions.

• Deliver exceptional customer service and serve as a subject matter expert for both internal and external stakeholders across the organization.

• Act as the communication liaison with sponsors on behalf of OHSU.

• Build and nurture relationships with IRB, CRSO, and other internal offices.

• Contribute as a team member by supporting colleagues and sharing relevant information.

• Provide leadership and training regarding internal procedures and processes, which includes training Contract Administrators and Contract Coordinators.

• Draft or revise policies, guidance documents, strategies, practices, contractual language, standard terms, clauses, templates, and master agreements.

• Engage in external training initiatives, brown-bag sessions, and RAIN meetings.

• Act as a resource for department staff and research teams.

• Stay updated with OHSU, RDA, CRSO, ORIO, and OPAM policies and procedures.

• Participate in training, quality initiatives, procedural analysis, process enhancement, and team development.

• Maintain proficiency in InfoEd, Cognos, eCRIS, OGA, IRB, IACUC, IBC, and Conflict of Interest in Research systems.

• Creatively resolve issues while ensuring compliance.

• Assist OPAM team members with matters related to sponsored project administration.

• Identify, assess, and develop more efficient and cost-effective processes.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree AND five years of experience in federal and/or industry contract negotiation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must obtain or possess OHSU signature authority for the specified contract type within the portfolio within six months of hire.

• Capability to train and mentor others in understanding and negotiating contract language.

• Ability to use independent professional judgment, take initiative, possess a strong work ethic, and maintain a positive attitude.

• Skill in establishing and sustaining effective collaborative working relationships while upholding a high level of professionalism with OHSU faculty, staff, and external funding agencies.

• Proven analytical skills to comprehend and synthesize complex guidelines and regulatory requirements.

• Excellent communication abilities, including interpreting, conveying, explaining, and upholding regulatory requirements and contract language.

• Proficiency in organizing and prioritizing tasks, with a focus on tracking for quick status checks.

• Ability to adapt to new or modified electronic systems and processes, even in the absence of established procedures.

• Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, occasionally stressful environment with competing deadlines.

• Demonstrated capability to accurately understand and interpret medical and scientific terminology, concepts, and methodologies.

• Ability to negotiate effectively with multiple parties to achieve mutually satisfactory agreements.

• Comprehensive understanding of budgeting principles and procedures.

• Ability to exercise diplomacy and handle highly confidential matters with discretion.

• Work experience must be detailed on the resume in terms of months and years.
