📋 Description

• Define and take ownership of KIPP’s comprehensive growth and scaling strategy, which includes establishing multi-year objectives, prioritizing the portfolio, and identifying the necessary conditions for sustainable expansion.

• Create and maintain the vision and standards for KIPP's network growth, ensuring that every scaling decision is rooted in evidence, focuses on equity, and aligns with the One KIPP strategy.

• Develop the methodology and criteria for identifying regions at risk of viability and oversee assessments to determine the requirements for long-term sustainability and success.

• Act as the primary senior voice on growth matters for the Chief Schools Officer, Chief of Regional Impact, CEO, and Board—offering strategic advice, synthesizing landscape intelligence, and fostering organizational alignment around growth priorities.

• Shape and oversee cross-functional planning efforts involving the Office of the Chief Schools Officer and Chief of Regional Impact, ensuring that growth considerations are woven into organizational and financial planning processes.

• Lead the Foundation’s collaboration with regions targeting opportunistic growth—driving the strategy, ensuring accountability, and working alongside peer leaders for thought partnership and analytical support to convert ambition into actionable plans.

• Establish and oversee progress-monitoring systems to keep growth initiatives on track; utilize sound judgment to determine when course corrections are needed and escalate risks to the Chief of Regional Impact and C-suite.

• Identify growth patterns across regions, scale effective practices throughout the portfolio, and address systemic gaps—ensuring that successful strategies in one region serve as learning opportunities for the entire network.

• Act as the senior escalation point for regions regarding growth-related issues, exercising judgment to decide when matters require the attention of the Chief of Regional Impact, Chief Schools Officer, or CEO.

• Lead, mentor, and manage the Senior Director of Growth to enhance regional growth partnerships, readiness assessments, and landscape analyses.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in strategy, growth, network development, or similar enterprise leadership roles, preferably within K-12 education or a comparable mission-driven environment.

• Proven success in managing and developing people managers across nested teams of four or more direct reports, with measurable impact on their performance and the organizational outcomes they influence.

• Demonstrated capability to set vision, goals, and strategy for one or multiple functions with executive-level autonomy, and to translate that vision into accountable execution through a team.

• Direct responsibility for network-wide strategic priorities with proven outcomes that have influenced all regions or the entire network.

• Track record of designing and maintaining readiness or assessment frameworks based on data, translating both quantitative and qualitative insights into clear recommendations that promote network-wide organizational accountability.

• Strong analytical and strategic abilities, including conducting landscape analyses, financial modeling, and the capacity to distill complex information into concise strategic narratives for executive and Board audiences.

• Demonstrated executive presence and the ability to make network-level decisions autonomously while serving as a credible senior thought partner to C-suite leaders and regional boards.

• Proven experience collaborating with regional or field-based leaders to translate national strategy into executable plans tailored to local contexts, while ensuring coherence across the network.

• Experience in K-12 education, charter school growth, or a similar mission-driven environment is highly preferred.
