Remotery

Senior UX/UI Designer

Posted Jun 21

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the design process for client websites, spanning information architecture and user flows, through to wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and interactive prototypes.

• Create mobile-first, responsive layouts that function seamlessly across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

• Lead the integration of interaction design with visual design, recognizing both as essential disciplines that shape user experience, not just aesthetics.

• Simplify complex briefs to achieve the right mix of clarity, simplicity, and depth.

• Develop microcopy and establish content hierarchy as part of the design process, collaborating cross-functionally when copy is included.

• Produce Figma files that meet professional standards: organized page structures, named layers, structured components, auto layout, variables, tokens, variants, and proper style usage.

• Create and manage component libraries and design systems that are scalable across various client brands.

• Intentionally apply visual design principles (typography, hierarchy, color, composition, contrast) with precision.

• Design interactive Figma prototypes that clearly convey flow, interaction, and motion to clients and developers.

• Define and document micro-interactions and motion behaviors (hover states, transitions, scroll behaviors) to facilitate developer implementation without ambiguity.

• Articulate the narrative of your design work through clear, confident walkthroughs for internal teams and clients, elucidating design decisions and trade-offs.

• Provide and receive feedback during design reviews, enhancing the quality of the team's work as well as your own.

• Rapidly iterate based on client feedback, user input, and validation, viewing design as an iterative process rather than a final product.

• Design in accordance with WCAG accessibility standards (color contrast, focus states, keyboard navigation, semantic structure) and apply inclusive design principles by default.

• Generate precise developer specifications for spacing, typography, component states, breakpoint behavior, and asset exports.

• Collaborate with developers during implementation, reviewing builds and identifying any deviations from the intended design.

• Source and create imagery using AI tools (Higgsfield, Nano Banana, or similar) when stock or client-provided images are unavailable.

• Adjust your visual strategy across diverse client brand systems with care and consistency.

• Remain up-to-date on design trends, tools, and standards, particularly in the realm of AI-assisted design and web craftsmanship.

• Bring innovative ideas, techniques, and references back to the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• An outstanding portfolio showcasing launched websites and digital products that reflect strong UI craftsmanship, interaction design, design system thinking, and thoughtful information architecture.

• 5-7 years of professional experience in UI/UX design, preferably including time spent in an agency or multi-client setting.

• Expert-level proficiency in Figma: including prototyping, auto layout, variables, tokens, variants, components, and design system management.

• Strong foundation in visual design principles: typography, hierarchy, color, composition, and contrast.

• Solid skills in information architecture, user flow, and mobile-first responsive design.

• Proven ability to design motion and micro-interactions, and effectively communicate these in prototypes or specifications.

• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.

• Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity and translate broad briefs into strategic, thoughtful design decisions.

• Demonstrated practices for effective developer handoff and collaboration with front-end developers.

• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

• Comfort with sourcing and generating imagery using AI tools.

• Self-motivated and dependable in a fully remote work environment.

🏝️ Benefits

• Healthcare coverage for you and your family.

• Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays.

• Performance-based bonuses and opportunities for company equity.

• Fully remote work setting with flexible scheduling.

• A collaborative and thriving team culture that embodies Adoreal’s core values.
