This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Perform regular generative and evaluative research with internal operations users — encompassing contextual inquiry, task analysis, and usability testing.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of HealthSource workflows: tracking how requests navigate through the system, identifying error points, and recognizing what hinders team efficiency.
• Integrate qualitative and quantitative insights (support ticket trends, usage statistics, direct interviews) into clear problem statements.
• Sustain and enhance an evolving perspective of the user, their cognitive frameworks, and the operational environment they operate within.
• Manage the end-to-end design process for HealthSource features — from initial concepts to finalized, specification-ready outputs.
• Produce detailed interaction designs, user flows, and prototypes that address edge cases and error scenarios, not solely focusing on the ideal path.
• Contribute to and uphold consistency within Datavant's design system, recognizing components that should be standardized across products.
• Design for high-volume efficiency — our operations users handle hundreds of requests daily, so minimizing friction is essential.
• Balance immediate iterative enhancements with long-term systemic redesign initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with the HealthSource PM and engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Engage directly with operations managers and specialists to validate designs frequently and early in the process.
• Articulate design rationale effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Participate in product strategy discussions — you will be expected to provide insights on which problems are worth addressing and the reasons behind them.
• Coordinate with the broader design team on shared patterns, principles, and critiques.
• Over 5 years of UX design experience, with a portfolio showcasing strong skills in research, interaction design, and systems thinking.
• Proven experience in designing for internal tools, operational platforms, or workflow-intensive products — beyond just consumer experiences.
• Proficiency in the complete research toolkit: knowing when to employ specific methods, how to synthesize results, and how to involve stakeholders effectively.
• Strong interaction design abilities — you consider state management, error handling, progressive disclosure, and accessibility/keyboard patterns with care.
• Experience contributing to or engaging with a design system.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity — this role requires defining problems rather than merely executing pre-defined solutions.
• Excellent written communication skills; you can draft a clear design brief, decision rationale, or research summary independently.
• 25 vacation days.
• Daily in-office lunch stipend (along with a fully stocked kitchen).
• Hybrid work model: 2 days per week at our office in Gracia.
• Commitment to professional development opportunities.
• Employee-driven initiatives including an annual company-wide innovation day and DEI resource groups.
• Comprehensive private health coverage with out-of-network reimbursement options.
• Flexible compensation options via Cobee (Restaurant, Transportation, Nursery).
• Peer and company recognition programs.
• Monthly educational lunch and learn sessions.
