This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Identify, solicit, underwrite, and sell both new and renewal Specialty accounts.
• Propel profitable growth in alignment with industry segments, appetite, and mix objectives.
• Offer insurance solutions utilizing advanced technical, sales, and analytical expertise.
• Oversee a technically complex portfolio of business within extensive underwriting authority.
• Implement risk selection, exposure and hazard identification, coverage analysis, loss analysis, pricing, rating methodology, and CAT aggregation strategies.
• Clarify coverages, exposures, and controls to agents.
• Manage portfolio objectives including premium, profitability, rate, retention, industry and line-of-business mix, new business, and portfolio management.
• Develop profitable relationships with agencies, internal management, and external resources.
• Create and execute portfolio business plans and special initiatives.
• Analyze metrics, identify trends, and discover new business prospects.
• Promote profit enhancement initiatives with key agents.
• Collaborate with Specialty departments on cross-selling opportunities.
• Recognize enhanced sales opportunities across various lines of business and customer segments.
• Manage relationships with producers, negotiations, customer stewardship, and territory business plans.
• Provide training and transfer product knowledge to agents.
• Deliver regular sales presentations to agents and customers.
• Identify customer needs, position solutions, address objections, and finalize deals.
• Report to the Leader of the Financial Institutions practice.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years of underwriting experience in Financial Institutions, focusing on asset managers, including registered investment advisers (RIAs), private fund managers, and other investment management firms.
• 5-7+ years of experience in fostering agency relationships that result in profitable new and renewal business.
• Proficiency in LOB underwriting core competencies; may specialize or certify in 1-2 specialty areas.
• Capacity to identify, analyze, and resolve issues while managing and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects.
• Ability to collaborate on complex risks, pricing, trends, industry segments, coverages, and product knowledge.
• Capability to swiftly adapt to change, influence others, and advocate for necessary changes.
• Informal leadership skills and a readiness to share knowledge and mentor less experienced or newly hired underwriters.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external business partners.
• Ability to exercise judgment, negotiate, and make sound business decisions within the scope of authority.
• Ability to nurture collaboration and respect among team members.
• Equivalent experience may replace the Bachelor’s Degree requirement.
• Flexibility for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
• Regular travel throughout the designated territory.
