This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accurately process intricate U.S. and Canadian payrolls in a timely manner while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
• Assess wage calculations, deductions, withholdings, taxes, fringe benefits, and employee modifications.
• Manage union payrolls, including fringe reporting and compliance with union agreements.
• Oversee the processing and reporting of prevailing wage and certified payroll.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of payroll, tax, and bank accounts.
• Ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations, union contracts, payroll legislation, and reporting obligations.
• Facilitate payroll-related initiatives, monitor action items, engage with stakeholders, and drive projects to completion.
• Direct the daily prioritization of payroll tasks and communicate payroll challenges, tax issues, and system improvements.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and outsourced payroll providers to enhance processes and systems.
• Create, review, and analyze a variety of reports, including payroll, year-end, union fringe, general ledger, audit, and management reports.
• Keep abreast of union and regulatory changes and modify payroll processes and system configurations accordingly.
• Maintain precise and confidential payroll records and documentation.
• Construction experience is essential.
• Proficient in managing prevailing wage and union payrolls.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in multi-state payroll processing.
• At least 3 years of experience in union payroll processing and reporting.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with prevailing wage payrolls.
• At least 3 years of high-technical payroll processing experience.
• Intermediate to expert-level skills in Excel, including proficiency with pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and macros.
• Quick learner with new systems.
• Experience in job costing and allocating payroll costs to projects.
• Hands-on experience with CMiC or similar construction/contractor-focused systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with union environments and the complexities of union payroll.
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding employee and company information.
• Willingness to work standard business hours, with flexibility as needed to meet deadlines and support payroll cycles.
