This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Accurately and timely process intricate payrolls for both the U.S. and Canada.
• Examine wage calculations, deductions, withholdings, taxes, fringe benefits, and changes related to employees.
• Oversee union payrolls, ensuring compliance with union agreements and handling union fringe reporting.
• Manage the processing and reporting of prevailing wage and certified payroll.
• Reconcile payroll, tax, and bank accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations, payroll laws, union agreements, and reporting obligations.
• Coordinate initiatives related to payroll, track action items, and ensure project completion.
• Prioritize daily payroll activities and communicate payroll issues, tax concerns, and system enhancements to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and outsourced payroll providers to improve processes and enhance systems.
• Create, review, and analyze payroll reports, including year-end data, union fringe reporting, general ledger activities, and requests from audits or management.
• Stay informed about changes in union and regulatory requirements and adjust payroll processes and systems accordingly.
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records and documentation.
• Construction experience is required.
• Experience with prevailing wage is essential.
• Union experience is necessary.
• A minimum of 3 years of multi-state payroll processing experience is needed.
• At least 3 years of experience in union payroll processing and reporting is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of prevailing wage experience is necessary.
• At least 3 years of high-level technical payroll processing experience is needed.
• Intermediate to expert-level skills in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and macros are required.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems is essential.
• Experience in job costing and allocating payroll expenses to projects is necessary.
• Hands-on experience with CMiC or similar construction/contractor-focused systems is preferred.
• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
• Experience working within union environments and handling union payroll complexities is required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding employee and company information is essential.
• Capability to work standard business hours with some flexibility to meet deadlines and support payroll cycles is needed.
