This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Provide support for employer-owned life insurance initiatives aimed at executive and employee benefit funding solutions.
• Underwrite Guaranteed Issue (GI) and Simplified Issue (SI) COLI cases following carrier guidelines and program specifications.
• Evaluate lives within executive and broad-based COLI/BOLI/ICOLI programs.
• Establish suitable ratings, underwriting actions, and capacity decisions.
• Examine compensation data, employee classifications, and benefit structures.
• Evaluate financial justification in accordance with employer-owned life insurance standards.
• Ensure that policy face amounts are in line with program objectives and eligibility criteria.
• Underwrite in accordance with IRC §101(j) notice and consent regulations.
• Maintain compliance with carrier COLI governance standards and underwriting protocols.
• Assist internal review committees and large case decision-making processes.
• Conduct medical underwriting as necessary.
• Leverage in-depth knowledge of Qualified Purchaser and Accredited Investor definitions to support program eligibility, structure, and regulatory compliance.
• Cultivate and sustain robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• A Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• 5-7+ years of experience in underwriting Individual Life Insurance.
• Proven excellence in: Problem Solving/Analysis; Comprehension of Complex Information; Influencing Others; Risk Assessment; Sound Judgment in Decision Making; Negotiation Skills; Managing Conflict.
• Developed skills in analyzing and interpreting complex financial documents, including profit/loss statements, income statements, and balance sheets.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) at an intermediate level.
• A demonstrated history of working independently, being a self-starter, and collaborating effectively in a team environment.
