This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Works with limited supervision to assess and categorize medical, non-medical, and financial risks for complex life insurance cases up to $10,000,000, holding approval authority for amounts up to $5,000,000.
• Ensures that rate quotes are fair and just for clients, profitable for RGA Re, and completed within designated time frames.
• Maintains robust client relationships by offering underwriting solutions to client challenges and effectively communicating underwriting decisions, compromises, and solutions in a professional and client-oriented manner.
• Manages casework efficiently to meet or exceed time service/productivity goals and offer/decline ratios, while ensuring compliance with internal underwriting and audit guidelines.
• Collaborates with clients to provide underwriting solutions, identifying innovative ways to address their challenges and enhance their business outcomes.
• Develops and sustains strong working relationships with clients by understanding their business needs through effective listening.
• Communicates, advocates for, and negotiates RGA Re's underwriting decisions effectively.
• Stays updated on new client companies or industry products, current developments, and changes in medical and financial underwriting, while maintaining professional development through literature review and seminar participation.
• Identifies issues with the image system, sometimes remotely, and reports any inconsistencies or problems encountered.
• Collaborates with Medical Directors, team members, internal departments, and other RGA Re offices to gain expert knowledge and assist in identifying solutions that ensure quality results and client satisfaction.
• Engages in special projects, committees, and meetings, assisting in client presentations as needed.
• Aids in department training, updating internal underwriting guidelines/procedures, gathering client profiles, conducting audit reviews, and supporting other departmental needs.
• Maintains consistent and reliable attendance.
• Provides backup support and performs additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience (minimum of 8 years).
• 4-6 years of reinsurance Life underwriting experience or 7-8 years of direct Life underwriting experience.
• Basic skills in Word, along with intermediate skills in SQL/Query and Excel.
• Proficient in understanding and interpreting insurance and contract documents.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the capability to share and impart knowledge effectively.
• Ability to swiftly adapt to new methods and work under pressure with tight deadlines.
• Advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong capacity to set goals and manage multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously while balancing priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Ability to collaborate well within a team environment and actively participate in department/team projects.
• Competence in balancing detail with departmental goals/objectives.
• Advanced proficiency in translating business needs and problems into feasible solutions.
• Strong skills in customer relationship management and change management.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects or teams and set relevant goals.

• Advanced understanding of insurance principles, underwriting policies, procedures, and guidelines for risk analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of medicine, law, accounting, and finance as applied to the assessment of life reinsurance and life insurance risks.
• Ability to quickly comprehend, analyze, and apply extensive medical and financial information to make sound financial underwriting and risk assessments.
• Capability to work online, whether from home or remotely.
