Senior Underwriter, Professional Liability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Underwrite intricate and challenging new and renewal submissions in accordance with underwriting guidelines, making informed risk decisions that align with our growth and profitability objectives.

• Negotiate terms and conditions that reflect our coverage-oriented underwriting strategies.

• Promote our insurance products through various communication channels and occasional business travel.

• Establish mutually beneficial partnerships and cultivate relationships with our appointed wholesale brokers.

• Track key metrics and ratios with a focus on efficiency and profitability.

• Assist in the training and mentoring of less experienced staff members.

• Engage in special projects and corporate initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five years of experience in Professional Liability underwriting with underwriting authority, preferably in Excess and Surplus (E&S) Lines.

• Extensive technical knowledge of professional liability, products liability, and other liability lines of insurance.

• Established relationships within the wholesale broker community and a proven ability to foster effective relationships.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, both internally and externally.

• Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and advanced problem-solving capabilities.

• A strong commitment to customer service to meet and exceed our best-in-class service goals.

• A bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not mandatory; relevant work experience will be considered.

• RPLU designation or other relevant industry coursework is preferred, but not required.

• Willingness to travel occasionally to support our corporate interests.
