Senior Transportation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the planning, design, and execution of mid- to large-scale roadway and highway enhancement initiatives.

• Act as the Lead Engineer for highway and roadway projects.

• Offer technical guidance and expertise throughout the entire process, from studies to final design.

• Review, authorize, and sign off on engineering work as necessary.

• Conduct quality control and assurance reviews of work prepared by other team members.

• Create and manage design packages that meet Caltrans and Greenbook standards, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

• Generate engineering cost estimates, timelines, and budgets for significant projects.

• Communicate complex technical concepts and design solutions to clients and stakeholders effectively.

• Contribute to the development of technical proposals and presentations.

• Mentor and support junior staff members.

• Engage in professional organizations and assist in business development activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

• At least eight (8) years of pertinent experience in transportation engineering, or a comparable blend of education and experience.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred; candidates must be able to obtain California PE licensure within 12 months if not already licensed in California.

• Preferably ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible experience in highway and roadway design.

• Proven experience in delivering Caltrans highway or roadway projects.

• Proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D software.

• Experience in leading design teams utilizing MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.

• Familiarity with preparing technical specifications following Greenbook and/or Caltrans standards.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Interest in marketing and business development, including proposal assistance and client presentations.
