Senior Transmission Line Engineer – Grid

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design transmission lines within the voltage range of 69kV to 500kV.

• Conduct cost analysis and establish design criteria.

• Assist in the routing and siting of transmission lines.

• Perform studies related to conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction.

• Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify components for transmission lines.

• Lead a small project team.

• Work alongside seasoned engineers while mentoring junior staff.

• Engage with a diverse range of clients and other project teams.

• Occasionally travel for site visits and client meetings.

• Create proposals and cost estimates for new projects.

• Utilize relevant technology, data, automation, artificial intelligence, and digital tools, applying professional judgment and review.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

• No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is available.

• Proficiency in PLS-CADD software for reviewing transmission line models.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience as part of a project team on various transmission assignments.

• Experience in transmission line design that complies with code requirements.

• Background in developing cost estimates.

• Experience with schedule creation and coordination.

• Skills in preparing specifications for the procurement of transmission line materials and construction.

• Experience in liaising with construction and installation teams.

• Knowledge of right-of-way requirements, conductor sags/tensions, transmission line plan and profile drawings, and construction documentation.

• Understanding of design techniques, tools, and principles for creating technical plans, drawings, and models.

• Proficient in writing and providing supporting documentation for engineering calculations.

• Familiarity with NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318 standards.

• Competence in MS Office applications.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Current PE license or the ability to obtain one within one year is preferred.

• Experience in developing engineering proposals and cost estimates is preferred.

• Experience with scheduling is preferred.

• Proficiency in PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, or MicroStation is valued but not mandatory.
