Senior Transformer Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Conduct inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on power and distribution transformers.

β€’ Detect and rectify oil leaks; replace gaskets, seals, and associated components.

β€’ Repair or substitute radiators, bushings, and supplementary transformer parts.

β€’ Carry out internal inspections of transformers and maintain load tap changers (LTCs).

β€’ Operate vacuum dehydration and oil processing systems, including filtration, reclamation, and oil replacement.

β€’ Execute transformer vacuum filling and assembly tasks.

β€’ Perform electrical testing in accordance with NETA ATS and MTS standards.

β€’ Assist in commissioning, preventive maintenance, and response activities during outages.

β€’ Keep precise service documentation and reports using digital tools like PowerDB.

β€’ Adhere to safety protocols and standards set by the company, clients, and regulatory bodies.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ High school diploma or GED is required.

β€’ A minimum of 5 years of relevant field service experience with transformers.

β€’ Strong understanding of transformer maintenance methods and oil processing techniques.

β€’ Demonstrated experience in conducting internal inspections and repairs of transformers.

β€’ Familiarity with vacuum filling, oil handling, and transformer assembly processes.

β€’ Knowledgeable in using electrical testing equipment.

β€’ Competent in basic computer applications, including MS Excel, email, and reporting tools.

β€’ Willingness to work extended hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations, including weekends and holidays as necessary.

β€’ Must be able to travel to client locations throughout Canada and the USA, up to 80% of the time.

β€’ Capable of lifting up to 34 kg (75 lbs), climbing, crawling, and working in industrial settings.

β€’ Required to pass a pre-employment medical/fit-for-duty assessment.

β€’ Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license with an exemplary driving record.

β€’ Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.

β€’ A valid passport is required.

β€’ Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as permitted by law and job site requirements.
