Senior Transformer Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on power and distribution transformers.

• Detect and rectify oil leaks; replace gaskets, seals, and associated components.

• Repair or substitute radiators, bushings, and supplementary transformer parts.

• Carry out internal inspections of transformers and maintain load tap changers (LTCs).

• Operate vacuum dehydration and oil processing systems, including filtration, reclamation, and oil replacement.

• Execute transformer vacuum filling and assembly tasks.

• Perform electrical testing in accordance with NETA ATS and MTS standards.

• Assist in commissioning, preventive maintenance, and response activities during outages.

• Keep precise service documentation and reports using digital tools like PowerDB.

• Adhere to safety protocols and standards set by the company, clients, and regulatory bodies.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant field service experience with transformers.

• Strong understanding of transformer maintenance methods and oil processing techniques.

• Demonstrated experience in conducting internal inspections and repairs of transformers.

• Familiarity with vacuum filling, oil handling, and transformer assembly processes.

• Knowledgeable in using electrical testing equipment.

• Competent in basic computer applications, including MS Excel, email, and reporting tools.

• Willingness to work extended hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations, including weekends and holidays as necessary.

• Must be able to travel to client locations throughout Canada and the USA, up to 80% of the time.

• Capable of lifting up to 34 kg (75 lbs), climbing, crawling, and working in industrial settings.

• Required to pass a pre-employment medical/fit-for-duty assessment.

• Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license with an exemplary driving record.

• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.

• A valid passport is required.

• Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as permitted by law and job site requirements.
