This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Conduct independent research related to Customs as per client requests.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and procedures for consulting assignments.
• Provide training to clients on import and export regulations.
• Utilize independent judgment during consulting engagements with clients.
• Collaborate with both internal and external resources to ensure project completion aligns with client expectations and timelines.
• Research, interpret, and apply government regulations regarding imports and exports to specific client scenarios.
• Create solutions for complex import and export issues and advise on appropriate actions.
• Ensure that the opinions and recommendations provided comply with U.S. Government regulations for imports and exports.
• Analyze and interpret data received from clients and consultants.
• Conduct complex data analysis for goods across various industries.
• Liaise with government agencies to address client situations and manage projects.
• Prioritize and complete tasks based on project needs, Customs regulations, and established standards.
• Identify potential sales opportunities.
• Stay updated on Customs regulations, procedures, requirements, and federal trade laws.
• Present or coordinate public speaking engagements and seminars.
• Mentor and guide team members.
• Cross-train in additional duties as necessary.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
• Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
• A Customs Broker License is required, or the willingness to obtain one.
• Previous experience in classification is necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in customs brokerage or auditing is required.
• Consulting experience is preferred.
• A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
• Experience in trade compliance audits and risk assessments is preferred.
• Experience in developing Trade Compliance Programs and compliance manuals is advantageous.
• Familiarity with implementing internal controls to satisfy regulatory requirements is preferred.
• Experience in establishing Trusted Trade programs, such as ISA, is a plus.
• Experience with analyzing and submitting Prior Disclosures is preferred.
• Experience with the Valuation Binding Ruling process and submission is preferred.
• Experience with AD/CVD regulations is preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 10% is required.
