Senior Title Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Identify challenges and collaborate with customers, attorneys, and lenders in a consultative role to address issues affecting title insurability before closing.

• Engage with clients and third parties to gather necessary documentation to resolve title-related concerns such as missing information, incomplete, inaccurate, or conflicting data found in the title commitment, adhering to internal and external policies and regulations.

• Review all types of title searches, including complex title orders such as those for commercial leaseholds, trust indentures, contracts, operating agreements, and other intricate property interests.

• Act as an advisor; decisions frequently involve navigating unique and complicated scenarios.

• Resolve title issues and take accountability for loss claim investigations.

• Evaluate records such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, plat and map books, and property surveys to ascertain ownership and legal constraints, as well as to confirm the legal description of properties and the completeness of records.

• Assess the implications of probate, foreclosures, building court cases, and bankruptcy proceedings on title insurance.

• Review and authorize a variety of documents including deeds, operating agreements, trusts, wills, affidavits of heirships, corporate resolutions, partnership agreements, and state-filed Articles of Incorporation and Articles of Organization.

• Choose suitable write-ups for commitments and policies for both standard and extended coverage.

• Build and sustain business relationships with clients.

• Engage in business development efforts to retain existing clients, acquire new ones, and accompany sales personnel on customer visits or provide formal training/classes.

• Utilize technical bulletins and other resources to assess and resolve issues.

• May determine pricing for commitments, endorsements, policies, and guarantees using a predetermined fee schedule.

• Collaborate with attorneys to review search packages and on matters that necessitate escalation.

• May provide underwriting interpretations within established guidelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-7 years of title-related real estate experience with a minimum of 2 years in title examination.

• Experience in PA title examination is required; NJ examination experience is preferred.

• Adaptable with the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment to manage all aspects of title support.

• A strong passion for assisting customers while upholding a professional and positive demeanor.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with both our internal team and external customers; able to adjust communication style as needed.

• A problem solver with robust organizational skills, detail-oriented, and possesses a natural curiosity with a desire to learn and share knowledge.

• Enjoys contributing to a team that works collaboratively to exceed customer expectations.

• Comfortable mentoring and supporting emerging talent in the industry.

• Proficient in MS Office suite and capable of quickly adapting to new software applications and technologies.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
