This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the team's roadmap from start to finish, encompassing backend platform systems, APIs, and data infrastructure while balancing reliability, platform enablement, and the development of new capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to define architectural direction, which includes API design, schema governance, and event-driven system patterns.
• Drive the prioritization of cross-functional platform requests, ensuring the establishment of scalable and durable solutions instead of one-off implementations.
• Work alongside data and analytics teams to meet warehouse and infrastructure needs, making decisions regarding event structures, identifiers, and data emission strategies.
• Lead product coordination during incident responses, facilitating prioritization and decision-making when critical systems are impacted.
• Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including PRDs and architectural decision records, to support the long-term scalability and maintainability of systems.
• Convert intricate technical concepts and platform investments into clear business impacts for cross-functional and executive stakeholders.
• Manage complex trade-offs related to scalability, speed, reliability, and long-term platform health in a fast-paced environment.
• Foster a collaborative team culture through thoughtful communication, strong technical judgment, and a long-term perspective focused on building sustainable systems.
• Over 5 years of product management experience, with significant exposure in technical or platform-focused PM roles that support backend systems, APIs, data infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Strong technical fluency in backend architecture concepts, including event-driven systems, API design and versioning, schema evolution, idempotency, eventual consistency, and distributed system reliability.
• Proven experience partnering closely with engineering teams on high-scale event ingestion and processing systems or platform infrastructure, with a clear understanding of operational and scalability trade-offs.
• Familiarity with supporting or collaborating with data engineering organizations on data platform initiatives, including knowledge of modern warehouse and transformation tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, or similar technologies.
• Proficient SQL skills, capable of independently investigating questions related to data quality, integrity, and reporting.
• Experience in leading or supporting platform teams that cater to internal product or engineering teams, encompassing roadmap intake, prioritization, API contracts, SLA management, and balancing standardization with business needs.
• Demonstrated achievements in enhancing reliability, scalability, or addressing technical debt initiatives that improved platform performance, reduced operational burdens, or bolstered system stability.
• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfortable with navigating ambiguity, influencing cross-functional stakeholders, and making informed trade-off decisions in a dynamic environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Prior engineering experience is advantageous.
