This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop the technical strategy for various technical pillars while allocating resources, staff time, and financial investments.
• Provide final approval on workplans, technical deliverables, and normative products.
• Resolve technical inquiries across different areas and awards.
• Ensure that technical methodologies adhere to current normative guidance, maintaining integration across health systems functions and disease areas.
• Act as a senior technical liaison with the U.S. Department of State, health ministries, normative agencies, and implementing partners.
• Lead technical responses during outbreak situations, donor-mandated surges, and challenging country programs.
• Enhance the technical evidence base through peer-reviewed articles, conference presentations, and contributions to normative guidance.
• Direct technical strategy, design, and review processes for new business initiatives, proposals, and country buy-ins.
• Assess project performance and provide recommendations for enhancing effectiveness and efficiency.
• Promote innovation, share best practices, and contribute to sustainable development objectives.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to disseminate evidence, lessons learned, and best practices.
• Build relationships within FHI 360 and coordinate responsibilities with Project Directors and senior leadership.
• Maintain technical connections with donor technical personnel.
• Supervise project implementation within the division, ensuring programmatic quality.
• Define strategic direction and manage budgets effectively.
• Lead, supervise, manage performance, and support the professional growth of technical experts.
• Line-manage leads in technical areas and oversee their performance, development, and deployment.
• Execute other assigned responsibilities.
• Master’s Degree or equivalent international qualification in Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology, or Health Systems.
• At least 12 years of pertinent experience in project management, overseeing complex projects and initiatives, or 9 years with a PhD.
• Minimum of 8 years of leadership and line management experience.
• Demonstrated success in leading and managing complex, strategic program/project portfolios on a national or international scale.
• Experience in guiding teams in intricate settings and managing both financial and human resources.
• Extensive experience in non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
• Thorough understanding of project management principles.
• Proficiency in program implementation methodologies.
• Competence in organizational leadership practices.
• Expertise in strategic planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Proven track record of fostering innovation and achieving significant outcomes.
• Capability to meet or surpass revenue targets from USG, foundations/corporations, and other donors.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications including Office 365, SharePoint, and communication tools such as Skype, Zoom, or Teams.
• Successful completion of relevant screening checks, including reference, criminal record, and terrorism financing checks.
• Personnel must uphold FHI 360’s safeguarding commitment and sign the code of conduct.
• Proficiency in French alongside English is preferred for the country portfolio; Portuguese language skills are an asset.
• PMP or another recognized project management certification is preferred.
• Certifications relevant to research management or organizational leadership are preferred.
