This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues within current gameplay systems, encompassing combat, progression, abilities, content setup, and day-to-day gameplay.
• Enhance the reliability, stability, and maintainability of intricate interconnected systems.
• Assist in bug fixing, tuning, debugging, and refining existing gameplay content.
• Design, implement, and fine-tune gameplay systems and features that enhance player experience and foster long-term engagement.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to align design intent with technical execution.
• Prototype gameplay features directly within the engine using scripting, visual scripting, or available design tools.
• Develop clear technical design documentation, specifications, logic flows, bug notes, and implementation details.
• Recognize technical risks and constraints early on, and contribute to shaping practical, high-quality solutions.
• Partner with production to appropriately scope work and manage risks concerning quality, timelines, and maintainability.
• Utilize feedback, bugs, and live data to enhance systems continuously over time.
• Contribute to elevating the quality standard for technical design through ownership, problem-solving, and collaboration.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical design, systems design, game design, or a closely related role on released games.
• Strong comprehension of top-down action RPGs, including systems, itemization, progression, abilities, combat flow, and foundational architecture.
• Practical experience in debugging, tuning, and enhancing existing gameplay systems.
• Experience in implementing gameplay features directly in the engine using scripting, visual scripting, or similar tools.
• Solid understanding of gameplay systems design, including progression, combat, balance, and player-facing mechanics.
• Ability to communicate effectively through documentation, implementation notes, bug reports, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proven experience collaborating closely with engineers to develop, enhance, and launch gameplay systems.
• Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and iteration skills.
• Familiarity with Unreal, Unity, or other comparable game engines.
• Capability to take ownership of features or areas of work from start to finish with minimal guidance.
