This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee, investigate, and interpret modifications to LGPS regulations, statutory guidance, HMRC requirements, and related pension legislation.
• Evaluate the implications of legislative and regulatory changes on administrative processes, member calculations, employer obligations, systems, templates, and client deliverables.
• Offer expert technical advice on intricate LGPS cases encompassing benefits, retirements, deaths, transfers, aggregations, discretions, and issues related to remedies.
• Create and review technical communications, client documents, briefing materials, reports, training resources, and procedural guidelines.
• Facilitate the implementation of regulatory changes by collaborating with operational, project, systems, and client teams to devise compliant and practical solutions.
• Lead or participate in technical projects, testing activities, quality assurance, and the sign-off of calculations, letters, or process modifications.
• Cultivate strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, articulating complex technical concepts clearly and credibly.
• Mentor, coach, and assist in the development of less experienced colleagues, fostering technical capability and resilience within the team.
• Identify opportunities to enhance controls, efficiency, consistency, and member outcomes throughout LGPS service delivery.
• In-depth understanding of the public sector regulatory framework, including benefit structures, governance requirements, employer obligations, and current industry trends.
• Familiarity with LGPS-specific pensions is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Solid grasp of pension tax, disclosure obligations, and compliance considerations.
• Capacity to analyze complex legislation and translate it into clear operational necessities and practical guidance.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with the skill to customize messages for clients, colleagues, and senior stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making capabilities, especially concerning intricate member or scheme cases.
• Proficiency in managing competing priorities, delivering high-quality work within deadlines, and contributing effectively to project initiatives.
• Collaborative mindset, with the confidence to influence, challenge constructively, and establish credibility across teams.
