• Implement strategies for asset optimization by identifying performance bottlenecks and applying solutions across 3D assets, materials, foliage, and world systems.
• Assist in enhancing housing setup workflows to facilitate modular, customizable, and efficient player-built environments.
• Cultivate and improve workflows for material creation and maintenance, ensuring materials are high-performing, scalable, and user-friendly for artists.
• Develop and sustain pipelines for foliage and vegetation, including the integration of SpeedTree, along with foliage placement and optimization.
• Utilize Houdini for the creation of procedural content.
• Contribute to the design and support of procedural world map generation, including layout systems, rule sets, and integration with Unreal’s world-building tools.
• Offer direct technical support to artists, resolving integration, workflow, and performance challenges.
• Mentor and guide artists on tools, materials, and best practices, promoting technical excellence and long-term scalability.
• Engage in planning and review sessions, advocating for technical awareness and contributing to the overall world-building strategy of the project.
• You have successfully shipped at least one game or product as an Environment Technical Artist using Unreal Engine.
• You are adept at managing complex environment systems such as material graphs, foliage, procedural tools, or world-building workflows.
• You excel in creating procedural generated content utilizing Houdini or PCG.
• You possess the ability to diagnose and resolve performance and scalability challenges across extensive environments.
• You are proactive, organized, and comfortable navigating uncertainty in production environments.
• You enjoy empowering fellow artists, removing obstacles for teams, and enhancing workflows through thoughtful tooling.
• You are inquisitive and committed to continuous learning, particularly in procedural content creation and technical art workflows.
• Experience with procedural world generation or large-scale map systems is a plus. (Nice to Have)
• Strong programming skills in Python or Unreal C++ would be advantageous. (Nice to Have)
• Familiarity with World Partition, large-world streaming, or similar systems is beneficial. (Nice to Have)
• Experience in optimizing and delivering a game across multiple platforms is a plus. (Nice to Have)
• A background in cozy, simulation, or multiplayer games would be an asset. (Nice to Have)
