• In the role of Senior Technical Artist at Fortis Games, you will play a crucial part in linking art and technology through the development of efficient tools, the optimization of asset pipelines, and the facilitation of seamless integration between artistic and engineering elements.
• You will take a leading role in the development and upkeep of rigging systems, shader workflows, and automation tools, enabling the art team to produce high-quality visuals while maintaining performance standards.
• This position provides an opportunity to work across various projects, collaborating with designers, engineers, and fellow artists to uphold technical excellence and uniformity across all game assets.
• Create and sustain tools and pipelines that facilitate efficient asset creation and integration.
• Recognize and communicate technical constraints and propose viable solutions for art assets and game systems.
• Accountable for the development and implementation of rigging systems that support character and creature animation.
• Collaborate with other departments, including engineering and design, to ensure quality and consistency throughout the game.
• Spearhead the development and maintenance of advanced shader systems for the game, optimizing them for performance on target platforms while preserving visual fidelity.
• Proficient knowledge of the Unity game engine and its scripting capabilities.
• Strong familiarity with modeling software such as 3DSMAX, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, as well as texture/material authoring tools like Photoshop and Substance.
• Significant experience in rigging and animating characters and objects across diverse styles and workflows.
• Capability to troubleshoot and enhance rigs and animations for optimal performance and quality.
• Basic understanding of shader creation via node graphs, HLSL, or GLSL.
• Fundamental proficiency in Python, C#, or C++.
• Expertise in creating and optimizing real-time game assets, including characters, environments, and particle effects.
• Strong grasp of game mechanics and the ability to implement complex game systems.
• Capacity to provide technical direction and mentorship to junior technical artists.
• Strong aptitude for debugging intricate technical issues and devising innovative solutions.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
