• Design, develop, and sustain animation pipelines and workflows that transition from DCC tools to in-engine implementation.
• Create tools and systems that enhance animator productivity, iteration speed, and consistency.
• Construct and uphold high-quality character rigs, encompassing deformation systems and control rigs.
• Implement and take ownership of animation systems within the engine, including state machines, blending systems, and runtime behaviors.
• Develop and maintain automation systems for NPC animation, ensuring they are scalable and reusable.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to create efficient animation systems and tools.
• Optimize animation systems for runtime performance, memory efficiency, and scalability for a large number of characters.
• Support motion capture pipelines, including data ingestion, cleanup workflows, and integration into the game.
• Research and apply contemporary animation techniques such as motion matching, procedural animation, and runtime IK systems.
• Diagnose and resolve animation issues throughout the pipeline, from rigging to runtime.
• Establish and maintain best practices for animation setup, naming conventions, data structures, and workflows.
• Collaborate closely with animators, designers, and engineers to ensure animation systems align with gameplay and visual objectives.
• Identify potential risks in animation systems and pipelines, proactively proposing solutions.
• Contribute to advancing the visual and technical limits of character animation within the project.
• Over 5 years of experience as a Technical Animator or in a similar capacity within game development.
• Extensive experience in building and managing animation pipelines and tools.
• Profound understanding of rigging, skinning, and deformation systems for characters.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing animation systems in real-time game engines.
• Strong comprehension of runtime animation systems including state machines, blending, IK, and procedural methodologies.
• Experience in optimizing animation for both performance and scalability.
• Proficient in scripting or programming (Python or similar languages) for tool and pipeline development.
• Familiarity with motion capture pipelines and integrating data.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving abilities across DCC tools and engine environments.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with engineering, animation, and design teams.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership over systems and long-term pipeline health.
