Senior Technical Animator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Serve as a pivotal contributor to Unreal animation technology, assisting in the implementation and maintenance of the technical vision for character pipelines and runtime systems.

• Design and oversee intricate animation systems within Unreal Engine, with a strong emphasis on Animation Blueprints and Control Rig.

• Aid in the integration of new characters by implementing their Physics and Cloth assets, while refining their LODs.

• Investigate and prototype innovative techniques to improve animation quality and workflow efficiency for the broader team.

• Engage in the creation of high-quality character and weapon rigs that align with our artistic and gameplay objectives, utilizing our proprietary Maya rigging tools.

• Enhance the character pipeline by contributing to the development and maintenance of vital Python-based tools for the animation team.

• Collaborate with engineers to address complex technical issues and ensure the performance and stability of all animation systems.

• Offer technical guidance and constructive feedback to junior and mid-level technical animators, promoting their skill development and growth.

• Work closely with the Technical Animation Lead and Director to convert artistic requirements into effective technical solutions.

• Document best practices for the technical animation pipeline to maintain consistency and quality across all projects.

• Monitor your progress daily and assist in evaluating and scheduling upcoming tasks.

• Balance the creative aspirations of the animation team with the technical limitations of the engine.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in technical animation, demonstrating a successful track record in a senior role.

• Experience shipping at least one AA+ title in a technical animation position.

• Expert-level proficiency with Unreal Engine, particularly in Animation Blueprints, State Machines, and Control Rigs.

• Strong understanding of dynamic asset types, especially Physics and Cloth Assets.

• Proven abilities in Maya character rigging and skinning for realistic characters.

• High level of proficiency in Python tools programming.

• Exceptional communication skills and the capability to collaborate effectively with both artists and engineers.
